One of the projects I have been considering around the yard is a small retaining wall to reduce the debris that the winds & the bush turkeys create onto my drive.

How many hours have I spent tiding up after them?

William*, after the beach, off I go to collect some not required blocks from a suburb away where the family was doing some serious & total renovating.

It was in a location that deserved a serious ‘makeover’.

After three very thirsty & heavy trips I have them in the yard.

The next day I have Roger*a client who is a bricklayer walk up the drive.

He tells us of his very enjoyable cruise in Alaska & the train trip to Banff & the four day bus trip to Calgary & the 14 hour plane trip to LAX.

Now I must know how the blocks  look & so to work.

Do I have enough blocks ?

How high do I go?

It’s rewarding playing & constructing.

But the blocks don’t have the ‘lips’ to lock them in or do I mortar the blocks?

What about a Base?

Always consequences & complexities.

To justify to the family, I’m  playing at it & hopefully improving the cosmetics & street appeal.

I haven’t finished  & Yes there is a small root to remove before a final decision.

So I will need to decide does a ‘player’ complete this or do I ask Roger* the tradesman.

I may do this minor job but I am certainly not doing it myself for a more complex wall.

Or a serious structure.

I do know my limitations.

I have previously had Roger* mortaring an important wall for the house.

He took a call whilst at our meeting as he was needed elsewhere this week.

It is his skill set & trade.

He will enjoy & deserve the beach in February & an 8 to 10 week trip to Italy & Sweden next August.

Each to their trade.

Yes Sir.
