-endless the work needed around here. I have free labour me at moment but that won't be forever.

This was an email today from Richard* a very good friend & my age & who is almost as fit as I am.

His house has an awesome  seaside view & downsizing would be a huge emotional decision.

It was his father who asked why did I buy my first house?

We also had to stay with us only two weeks ago  Will* a friend of his who sold me my very first car when I arrived here way back .

it was a Mazda 626 which I kept for eighteen years.

He did mention that they were considering to move & downsize.

 Why?

His wife who has a very bad back has trouble walking up the 19 stairs from the garage which is a step 10 m from the road.

She has trouble sleeping & I know that driving can be very difficult.

 However she needs her garden.

I must admit that very recently the endless leave sweeping & maintenance challenges such as possums, termites, plumbing, tree stumps...   throws the same decision up to me.

Do I stay locally or do we move to the beach?

Do I live abroad as Changmai has always been a place in mind.

It’s going to be emotional & just maybe earlier rather than later might be easier.

Will I receive 'push backs' from family?

As i am & have practiced 'mostly' an alternative heath prevention strategy & medical is too dear here then the medical reason for staying doesn't resonate with me.

Will that matter?

However I cant just travel as a contemporary who retired 2 years ago us doing.

I do need to maximise the moments when & when I do

The financial challenge when you get to our age, yes we are all the same age, is what to do with the realised equity.

The government with its asset & income tests means that you need to have plenty of income .

I found for a client that current rates are 2.55% for a TD.

That doesn’t provide any sort of lifestyle for overseas travel or other reasonable  needs.

So I posted today from a fund manager on our approved list APL.

 ****Monthly Income Trust fund:

The December rate (as at 31st December 2017) has been unveiled and it has come in at 7.85% per annum

 And

 ****Industrial Property Trust:

The return profiles are attractive at 8.50% per annum

That would appeal for those who downsize & want to live some of their bucket list.

Yes Sir.
