This morning somehow I watched the last round of the Masters golf.
Why I don’t know but maybe because of other golf tragics who I know do & hence maybe I should.
So we watched ‘Patrick Reed holds off epic final-round US Masters charges by Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler to win by a single stroke’.
Patrick had played in the masters 5 times previously & as he commented you have to beat everyone else in golf.
As they say of Wimbledon ‘you have to lose before you win’
I recall my father’s phrase
‘ hit for show, putt for dough’
& I wondered how much each putt was worth?
Payouts for each golfer from $11 million pool here
As the Master’s chairman stated more than once ‘ a life changing moment’ .
So then the winner’s Master’s green jacket is helped on by last year’s winner who was Sergio Garcia.
What happened to Sergio this year?
Defending champion Sergio Garcia matches the worst one-hole score in US Masters history with octuple-bogey 13.
He also made a 1-putt 13, which is both hilarious and kind of sad. It was actually kind of a clutch putt to avoid the worst score in Masters history! Here
So when I sent this to who I played with at Levels when I was 12 he replies with ‘I watched it & it was amazing’.
I observed with interest the communication of the final players with their caddies.
They all had the same goal & the caddy provided what they player needed be it suggestions , advise, congratulations, motivations….
They were teachers & coaches & caddies.
Perhaps not quite parents or mentors .
Aren’t you & I a ‘caddy’ for the family & our clients?
What did Sergio’s caddy say after the 15th hole??
Yes sir.
